Terms and Conditions

  • Deposit of 50% is requested to confirm & finalize your booking. 
  • Settlement of Bills must be on arrival. Keys will only be handed over after payment and administration.
  • The Quoted Rate is the price to be paid (VAT inclusive) It is for the room/unit only unless specified otherwise. Meals or other services are available at extra cost.
  • Rates are subject to change without prior notice. Advertised Web rates may differ from our Quotes.
  • Payments can be made by Cash, Credit Card or Bank EFT.
  • Check In Time:  2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Earlier or later can be accommodated if arranged in advance.
  • Late Arrivals: Our Office and Gates close at 8:00 pm. Special arrangements for key collection must be made for late arrivals.
  • Check Out Time: Strictly 10:00 on day of departure. Late Check Out 10.00 – 12.00 will be levied R 150 / unit
  • Cancellations Policy: If you inform us timely of a cancellation, we may re-sell your room and will refund as follow: More than 3 weeks notice, we pay back your full deposit.  3 Weeks notice, we pay back 50% of your deposit. 2 Weeks notice, we pay back 25% of your deposit. 1 week and Less than 1 week cancellation notice, we regret, no refunds. Due to Admin costs we will only refund a calculated payback that is more than R 100. Admin fee of R100 on all cancellations.
  • No Smoking inside the cottages or rooms.
  • Guest registration: According to Law, you must fill in and sign a Registration form on arrival at Reception. This info is for Admin and the Info will be kept strictly confidential and be destroyed after 1 year.
  • House Rules: By signing the Registration form on arrival, you accept and abide by the House rules of our Guesthouse as published on our website and displayed in the Units.
  • Use of Facilities is at Own Risk. The Owners or Management of Petra’s Country Guesthouse will not accept responsibility for damage, loss, or injury of Guest or their visitors that they may suffer during their stay.
  • Right of Admission Reserved:  Violation of House rules are grounds for eviction without refund.

  • Office Hours 8:00 am – 8:00 pm    Louret  062 646 0736   
  • Gate Hours    7:00 am –  8:00 pm. If you intend on visiting, leaving or returning outside of these hours, please get your Gate remote control from reception.
  • Noise or Disturbance: Petra’s Country Guesthouse is a Tranquil private Country Guesthuose and NOT A PUBLIC  HOLIDAY resort. That is mostly the reason why you and our other guests come here to get away, to relax, to have a well-deserved break and some peace and quiet. We love to keep it that way and it is for the safety and enjoyment of your Family and fellow residents.
  • Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am from Monday to Thursday and 11:00 pm to 8:00 am on Fridays to Sundays. At such times, the volume of all radios, television, amplified sound stereos, musical instruments and loud conversation shall be kept to a minimum inside or outside your apartment so as NOT to disturb or annoy other guests.
  • Disorderly conduct such as partying, loud talking, yelling, fighting, and other disorderly conduct and similar acts will not be tolerated. No fireworks or Vuvuzelas are allowed.
  • Guest liabilities: Guests will be responsible for damages, breakages, shortages or loss caused by them during their stay, to linen, furniture, appliances, or their room/cottage. Normal wear and tear are excluded.
  • No Smoking inside the cottages or rooms. Please smoke outside, ashtrays are provided.
  • Parking. Please make use of the carport and do not park on the grass. Do not leave any valuables inside your car. We do not accept any responsibility for loss or theft.
  • Boma and Braai area: Guests are allowed to use common areas. Everything should be clean and put back into place after use. Refer to our Quiet Times and Noise Disturbance policy
  • Jungle Gym: Minor children are to be with adult supervision at the jungle gym.
  • Environmental Awareness: We are dedicated to the protection of our resources and would encourage you to help us with:  Power saving: Lights are to be switched off when not in use. Water is to be used sparingly and ensured that taps are closed properly after use.
  • Toilets : Please refrain from flushing foreign objects and sanitary products down the toilets.
  • Check Out Time: Strictly 10:00 on day of departure. Late Check Out 10.00 – 12.00 will be levied R 150 / unit

Info FAQ for Guests

  • Services Available at extra cost, please arrange at Reception.
    • Breakfast, Lunch packs or Dinner: Prices & Menus at Reception,
    • Laundry service
    • Transport to Airport or Town 
  • Tea, Coffee and Milk  & sugar are Complementary on arrival.
  • Cleaning of units: Cottages and rooms are serviced every day (floors and bathrooms are cleaned), but beds are not made and dishes are not washed. Linen and towels will be changed once a week. Additional cleaning available at additional cost, please arrange at Reception.
  • Check Out
    • Time: Units to be vacated by 10:00 on day of departure. Late Check Out 10.00 – 12.00 will be levied R 150 / unit.  Failing to evacuate at 12.00, will result in your account being charged with an extra day’s cost.
    • Breakages Please advise us of any . before you leave.  Failing to do so may result in your account being charged with an extra day’s cost.
    • Early Departure Planning to sleep for less nights than you have booked, please let us know in advance.
    • Keys are to be left in the door.
  •  Maintenance issues: Please advise us of any, your Comfort is important to us.
  • Boma and Braai area: You are welcome to use our boma and enjoy the mountain view and sunset. Please do not extinguish the fire with water as it will cause damage to the clay pit. Other braai facilities can also be found near your allocated Rooms. Charcoal ,Wood and Cold drinks is sold at Reception.
  • Power outages: We have our own Generator for emergency electricity but takes time to start.  Each unit is  equipped with candles and matches. Please locate them beforehand so to be prepared if an outage occurs. When there is no power, there is no Wi-Fi internet and weak cellular reception.
  • Wi-Fi: Password is available at Reception. The First 500 Mb is free. More passwords are available at R 30 for 500 Mb. Wi-Fi in Africa and in South Africa is slow due to poor infrastructure and maintenance. Harsh weather conditions and Electricity outage cause Wi-Fi failure. Please do not penalize our rating negatively in your web reviews because of poor Wi-Fi.  We regret there is nothing that we can do about this situation .
  • Museum: Arrange with Louis to visit our private collection of military and other memorabilia.
  • The Dairy: Visit and watch the daily milking at 6:30 am and 16:15 pm.
  • Our Dogs are loving and harmless towards the guests and children. They form part of our security. Please do not allow them in the units. We don’t mind if they are fed leftovers.
  • Animals: Please feel free to feed our Donkeys some bread, And they just love chips or popcorn! Don’t forget the chickens, ducks and geese. We don’t mind you feeding or playing with the dogs or cats.
  • Hikes, Jogging and Mountain Biking: We have a marked circular route laid out for hikes, jogging or mountain biking. Just follow the yellow Foot signs on the path.
  • Bird Watching: We have birds of three habitats on the Farm. Grass veld, Mountain & Water birds. Please feel free to wander the farm and enjoy nature’s open air. A Bird List is available at Reception.
  • Traveling Info: We have maps and brochures at reception. We can also assist in recommendations to restaurants and attractions in and around Vryheid.
